About Paintbox Recording

Paintbox Recording is a professional music studio located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It was founded in 2013 by producer/engineer/musician Lloyd Peterson.

Our Team

Lloyd Peterson

Lloyd is the founder and head engineer of Paintbox Recording. He has been creating, collaborating, and contributing in Winnipeg’s music scene for more than 30 years. In that time he has become a familiar and well-respected record producer, engineer, multi-instrumentalist, performing songwriter, bandleader, sideman, studio owner, and mentor.

Lloyd is equally at home directing studio sessions, co-writing and arranging songs, recording live concerts, or editing and mixing a wide variety of genres.

Aaron Bartel

Aaron is Paintbox Recording’s in-house assistant engineer, microphone aficionado and software nerd. He is a saxophone player and composer (B Mus. University of Manitoba). He has produced and engineered a string of indie album projects and has toured North America for several years with acclaimed jazz/rock/psychedelic band Apollo Suns.

Mae McKillop

Mae is the newest member of the Paintbox team. Raised in Riding Mountain Manitoba, she has been a performing songwriter, studio owner-operator (Twin Ribbon Studio, Vancouver Island), live sound tech, and CBC Radio producer-technician. She brings a great understanding of studio dynamics, high-quality remote recording, and generally keeping things chill in sessions.

Accessibility

There is elevator access to the studio, which is fully wheelchair accessible.

We have ample free parking south of the building.
